FINALLY, the long wait is over!
Winky D who is arguably Zimbabwe’s best Zimdancehall artist will launch his highly anticipated album on 31 December 2019 at Harare International Conference Center (HICC). The album launch which has been dubbed “The Final Shutdown” is sponsored by Econet’s Sasai who alongside the Zimdancehall star had ahead of the album run a promotion in which they challenged Winky D’s fans to come with suggestions of the name.
Winky D’s new album which comes on the New Year’s Eve is believed to become the music offering in Zimbabwe going into 2020. The album launch is most likely to become one of the biggest New Year’s Eve parties in the country.
The album also comes at a time when Winky D’s fans had been begging him for a new offering, he last released an album Gombwe: Chiextra in February 2018. However this year Winky D had the biggest song of the year, MuGarden a collaboration with Gemma Griffiths that has broken all streaming records, amassing close to 3.9 million views on YouTube.
New album name
On 24 December 2019 Winky D finally revealed the new name of his highly anticipated album to be Njema which in Shona loose translates to handcuffs or chains.
On 21 December Winky D surprised his fans at DJ Stavo And Friends show when he sampled a new song from his album. The song which is believed to be his lead single is titled Chandelier.
