Two children suffocate to death after pre-school owner forgot them in boot of Honda Fit

Two pre-school children in Chiredzi town suffocated to death yesterday after they were left locked in a Honda fit trunk by the owner of the pre-school.

Zhuwakinah Javangwe discovered that she had forgotten four children that she had put in the trunk in the morning when she was about to clean her car for she heard a light knock in the car trunk, that when realized that she had forgot to remove them in the morning.

It is allegedly that she then removed the four children, two boys and two girls, from the trunk who had all lost consciousness.

The boys were resuscitated and regained consciousness but the two girls were pronounced dead upon arrival at Chiredzi District Hospital. 

“Four toddlers who were all below the age of five were locked up in a Honda Fit trunk in the morning resulting in two of them dying due to the heat. The owner is said to have only returned to the vehicle in the afternoon where she found two of the kids dead;” said some source.

Masvingo Police spokesperson, Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident had occurred saying: ”The pre-school owner, Javangwe discovered that she had forgotten four children she had put in the car trunk in the morning around 10am”.

“Yes, I can also confirm that such incident had occurred,” said Kennedy Javangwe, husband to the pre-school owner.
