ZIMBABWE Football Association (ZIFA) on Thursday officially unveiled the national team’s new head coach Logarusic Zdravko, who said he needed time to implement a successful turnaround strategy for the team.
Addressing journalists at Harare hotel, Zdravko said the bad state of the Zimbabwean football scene needed a long term strategy to achieve positive results.
“I am not a magician but a coach who is still learning and growing and I need your support, ” he said.
Zdravko said his major focus was to change the players’ mentality and their type of play was secondary.
“I cannot change how the players dribble or how to take a shot in four days, but I can change their mindset and give them confidence,” he added.
He also expressed his excitement of working with the Warriors whom he said are determined and has skillful players.
“African players have skill, stamina and speed and I will assist them in picking up some missing pieces, “ Zdravko noted.
Meanwhile, ZIFA president Felton Kamambo challenged the Croatian to prove his mettle and take the national team to greater heights above current achievements.
“We have to do better than what we had already done, if we managed to qualify for the Afcon then we have to eye for the World Cup, “said Kamambo.
Zimbabwe is currently second in Group H with four points from two games.
The Warriors are scheduled to resume their 2021 Afcon qualifying campaign with an away match against Algeria on March 23.
