SOUTH AFRICA: Residents in Hillbrow and Berea were left in shock after a Zimbabwean man was gunned down in broad daylight outside a shop after purchasing a few items.
The deceased (30) who has been identified as a Zimbabwean military personnel and was in South Africa for a visit was approached by a gun welding man who shot him at point blank.
“He has been here for a week now and was preparing to go back home, that is why he came to the shops to buy the china bag. He had already bought his groceries and wanted to pack them in the bag”, said a source close to him.
The reason behind the cold blooded shooting however remains a mystery but according to police officers who took statements, the two had an argument inside the shop.
The killer allegedly wanted to rob the deceased whilst inside the shop which resulted in a heated argument which was recorded on CCTV.
“We live in fear here,” said one resident who asked not to be named.
“Even when you are robbed and you report to the police, you find that the thief is already walking the streets the following day. And he will come after you for reporting him to the police, so its better to just suffer in silence.
“Going shopping or going to work is a big challenge here because anything can happen,” said the resident.
