ZEC Allows Political Parties Access to Ballots Printing Process

ZEC chairperson Priscilla Chigumba has said all political parties will be allowed to observe the printing of ballot papers ahead of the 2018 election.

Chigumba said ZEC commissioners agreed today that parties can observe ballot printing.

This follows after complaints by the MDC-T who were accusing ZEC of underhanded tactics to try and sabotage the elections after the election board refused to divulge the identity of the ballot paper printers.

This move was done in accordance with the requirements of section 52A the Electoral Act of the Constitution

The Commission shall without delay provide the following information to all political parties and candidates contesting an election, and to all observers

(a) where and by whom the ballot papers for the election have been or are being printed; and (b) the total number of ballot papers that have been printed for the election; and (c) the number of ballot papers that have been distributed to each polling station. “
