Controversial local musician Andy Muridzo, real name Kudzai Andrew Ngwenya, has been taken to court by his estranged wife Chipo Manyange, popularly known as Mai Keketso, who is demanding $1 800 per month in maintenance.
Mai Keketso is arguing that she needs the money for the upkeep of the musician’s two minor children.
However, she will have to wait a bit longer to see if the court will grant her request after Harare Magistrate Gladys Moyo postponed the matter to January 10 following an application by Muridzo’s lawyers.
The musician’s legal representative Sioux Shoko of Mudimu Legal Chambers made an application for postponement arguing that he needed more time to go through the papers as Muridzo’s former legal counsel had left the law firm.
Mai Keketso initially argued against the postponement but later relented.
The couple split up last year after the controversial musician was allegedly caught at the Avenues where he was having an extra-marital affair after he had dumped his family.
The musician then sent a token of divorce (Gupuro) to Mai Keketso’s relatives to signify the end of the relationship.
Mai Keketso, on the other hand, was ordered to stay away from Muridzo after the courts granted him a peace order.
Muridzo had alleged that Mai Keketso had caused a scene at one of his musical shows when she had violently confronted him and destroyed property.
Despite reports that Muridzo and his estranged wife have been making efforts to try to work out their issues, the young musician was recently photographed enjoying a night out with a lady whose identify has not been revealed.
However, the lady may have been a business colleague or a relative.
