Traditional leaders hold prayer ceremony at accident scene along Nyamapanda highway

Traditional leaders in Goromonzi led by Chief Chikwaka held a prayer ceremony in memory of victims of an accident which occurred near Juru Growth Point in December last year.

Concerned over the rise in road traffic accidents along the Harare – Nyamapanda highway, Chief Chikwaka organised a prayer session in memory of victims of the 16 December disaster which claimed 17 lives.

The prayer session started with a devotion at the place where the accident occurred that was conducted by Pastor Nhari from the Salvation Army church and proceedings ended at Bosha Primary School.

Other speakers, among them the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Advocate Fortune Chasi, who was representing Minister Joel Biggie Matiza, took a swipe at reckless drivers for causing unnecessary loss of lives.

A total of 104 accidents and 40 deaths have been recorded between the Harare – Murehwa tollgate and Musami cross point from January 2018 to date.
