SA Court Sets Date For Grace Assault Hearing

Civil rights watchdog AfriForum said on Thursday that the North Gauteng High Court will next month hear a case against the granting of diplomatic immunity to Zimbabwe’s ex First Lady Grace Mugabe by the South African government.

Grace Mugabe is set to appear before the North Gauteng High Court for diplomatic immunity between 10-11 May.

Engels‚ who was allegedly struck with an electrical extension cord‚ laid assault charges against her. AfriForum‚ which is assisting Engels in the case‚ said they believe they had a strong case to challenge the immunity.

After attempting to get justice Grace was granted diplomatic immunity by the South African government’s Department of International Relations and Co-operation.

Afriforum is set to go for private prosecution if the State refuses to prosecute her, if she loses the immunity case. – Timeslive
