AGAINST the odds but, in line with their mission to excel, Kadoma based private college Rotterview U20 Boys Soccer team emerged victorious at provincial level to qualify for national finals set for Marondera from 3-4 October 2019.
The college also won the heart of corporate sponsors, furniture distributor, Teacherz Furnishers who handed them a brand new full soccer kit and match ball.
Provincial finals were held at Kutama last Friday. The college is highly humbled by the support rendered by those in charge of different facets of disciplines for their achievements.
The coach is upbeat and excited: “When we went there we were aiming for a top four finish. Our pool included hosts and defending champions. When we were in the semi-final, l told my boys to be confident and play their game.
“I still can’t believe that l managed to take the school to national finals. The boys are as excited as I am. For most, it is their first time to don the Mash West champion tag. The support we’re getting from college directors is great. said Show Makomani who has been with the college for the past five years. “We appreciate Rimuka community in which we operate for allowing the boys to come and play football.” he added, a broad smile beaming on his face.
He hails surrounding schools for affording training sessions to their team. A show of unity of purpose.College founder and director Mr Simbarashe (what a significant first name) would like to extend his appreciation to head of Rimuka Cluster in the tournament:
“We would like to thank Mr Magwegwe for his unparalleled support. The college director goes on to humble himself in the face of National Association of Secondary Heads (NASH), Sanyati district under the able leadership qualities of Sanyati District Schools Inspector (DSI) Mr Makamure.
Sanyati District is now a force to reckon with in various disciplines and continues to pick accollades, making other districts turn green with envy. Independent and private colleges in the district are sailing under the leadership of Mr Zinyana.
The man has continued to lean his unflinching support to these institutions such that they are able to reach their potential. That is healthy for a productive education system anchored not only on academic excellence but sport as well as other fields of learning.
Learners are afforded the opportunity to excel as a result of such facilities.
“Rotterview College would also like to thank Mr Zinyana who is the supervisor of independent and private colleges in the district. Had it not been because of his support in terms of sport, Rotterview would not be where it is today. The man is working very hard in improving efficiency and making sure that all colleges in the district are complying with the Ministry’s policy,” said the astute leader Chimombe.
As Mash West representatives at the national finals, the college extends profound gratitude to all the support from the province. It will be carrying the hopes of a whole province and would like to appreciate the leadership of Provincial Education Director (PED) Mr Mhuma for making it possible to be riding high. Rotterview college beacon continues to shine as it takes tasks head-on. It has produced some of the best performances at district, provincial and national levels.
Notably, it has exported students to study at universities in China under the Presidential Scholarship scheme, its students like Tawanda Chaka have produced the best results in Mash West province in ‘A’ Level Commercials (18 points) in 2016 and Tsistsi Mamvura having 16 points in 2017.
This year, darts wizkid, Matthew Maganda qualified for the Zimbabwe National darts team that did duty in the Zone VI Regional Championships held in Windhoek , Namibia from August 26-30. Their girls netball Under 20 team also qualified for the NASH Provincial Netball finals held at Chikangwe High in Karoi, leaving an impressive footprint at that tournament.
Such are some of the splashes of brilliance produced by the ever-shinning college under Simba ‘Legend’ Chimombe.
