Prophet goes on armed robbery shooting spree… fires 25 shots, murders man

A self-proclaimed prophet and his sidekick nephew who ganged up and allegedly robbed two shops at Jalukange Business Centre in Beitbridge District after firing 25 bullets, shooting two people leading to the death of one of them appeared in court yesterday.

The prophet, Christopher Chamisa (26) left, and his nephew, Garikai Siziba (19) allegedly armed themselves with an AK56 rifle and raided two shops before they went away with cash amounting to $114, US$70 and R11 608.

It is the state’s case that the pair went to Jalukange general dealer and found the complainant who is the storekeeper at the store, Ms Sibusisiwe Moyo, attending to a customer, Mr Thulani Ndlovu.

They demanded cash shortly before firing shots, forcing the shopkeeper and customer to hide behind the counter.

“Fearing for her life, Ms Moyo surrendered R7 518 and $114, which was in a plastic bag. The accused persons left the shop and while outside they indiscriminately fired shots from the veranda during which some patrons were injured,” .

They went on another robbing spree on the same building, this time shooting one Mr Muleya and Ms Perseculiar Singo.

The raided the cash box and took off with all the money in the shop.

The Chronicle reports that Mr Muleya succumbed to the gun-shot wound and died.

A report was made to the police leading to the arrest of the two accused persons and the firearm was recovered in a disused well about 500 metres from the scene of the crime.
