In what is a huge blow for the Zimbabwe Warriors, Marvelous Nakamba has been ruled out of tonight’s key Group A battle against surprise Group leaders Uganda because of injury.
This comes as striker Nyasha Mushekwi has also seen his participation at the tournament end through injury.
Team manager Wellington Mpandare revealed the depressing news about Nakamba’s absence late last night and this will be a huge blow for the Warriors.
A reporrt by the Herald says: “The Belgium-based midfielder was the outstanding on-field player for the Warriors in their match against the Pharaohs last Friday night and his absence will loom large.”
Nakamba was in terrific form in the AFCON opener against tournament hosts Egypt where Zimbabwe lost a goal to nil.
The Warriors need to win tonight’s match to still have realistic chance of progressing to the next stage. They are third in Group A after the first round of matches, just above the DR Congo.
