Masvingo-bred beauty queen, Belinda Potts,was crowned as Miss World Zimbabwe after shrugging off stiff competition from 13 other beauties.
The colorful ceremony was held at Orchids Gardens on Saturday. Potts is set to represent Zimbabwe at the 68th edition of Miss World which will be held in Sanya, China on of the 8th December.
According to H-metro, the Queen will receive $20 000 in cash and a holiday trip to China at a handover ceremony set to be held in a few weeks time.
In an interview after the ceremony, Belinda said that she is looking forward to her reign as the pageant’s queen.
“I have been doing modelling ever since I was 16-years-old, being crowned Miss World Zimbabwe is my greatest achievement so far in my modelling career
Now that I am the queen, I want to give back to my community the same way that my community has made me who I am today
I am a student in the Veterinary department and in five years I am looking forward to to be coming a qualified veterinarian,” she said
The queen also added that she is excited about the vehicle she won as part of the winning package, however, she had to get a drivers licence first before the ar can be handed to her.
On the other hand, Miss World Zimbabwe Licence holder, Marry Chiwenga took her time to thank stakeholder who took their time to organize the event.
