YOUTHS in Kadoma are expected to celebrate the International Africa Youth Day in style with a talent show that is being organised by YMCA this Saturday.
YMCA (Kadoma) have partnered with local organizations to celebrate with the aim of conscientising youths about the importance of the day.
“We are expecting youths from schools and the Kadoma community to turn up for this occasion which will be held at Rimuka Hall in Kadoma under the theme: Empowering young people for the African renaissance,” said one of the organisers of the event, Tapfumaneyi Francis Mukarati.
Mukarati said the youths will take turns to showcase through music, dance and poetry. There will also be performances from Tatenda Chisamba popularly known as Trice, dance groups and many more.
Mukarati said the event’s objective was to encourage youths to be active in community development.
“This talent show we want to showcase the day’s significance in Kadoma and also strengthen youths’ capabilities and preparedness to be effective humanitarian actors and torchbearers of sustainable development,” he said.
“We want to conscientise and inculcate a positive African identity in them so they appreciate the international Africa youth day.”
Tapfuma, said they were organizing this local celebrations after realising that youths were not aware of this importance of the day.
