Biggerz Wakapiwa – aka Baba Mutoko – gave his fans an early festive season present when he recently launched his much-awaited 7th album at Nyamakwere Lodges in Mutoko.
The album titled Hupenyu hauna mugoni,has eight chimurenga tracks. The songs Hupenyu, Mhanduwe, Corona, Dutu mupengo, Macharangwanda, Chigamba, Basa rangu and Ivhu irori send the fans into a frenzy. The artist was flanked by celebrated session musicians, drummist Aaron Tom and mbira maestros namely Godfrey Zemba, Raymond Samuriwo and Biggy Muchochoma.
Headman Willard Nyamakope who graced the occasion thanked the mbira artist for redirecting the youth to the Shona tradition in music .”We thank Baba Mutoko for the music and for reminding us where we come from ,the youth has deviated from our culture,” he commented.
Local businessman and Wakapiwa’s promoter also hailed the airtist for setting grand music trend to the Mutoko artists. Mrs Maryber Bvunzawabaya Madzeka also commented on the great strides the artist made on putting Mutoko on the map .
She said:”It is the first time for an artist to launch an album in Mutoko. It will definitely attract business for us and we will continue to support him.”
Curtain raisers Zebra Kings, Ascom and Dumie Matomboanokosha gave the fans a run for their money. They also urged their fans to continue to supporting them in their line of work.
Biggerz Wakapiwa expressed his profound veneration to his promoters .Boss Kanhema, Fasco ,Mai Madzeka ,Mai Mazarura,Mai Nofa ,Kassam and many more .He thanked his fans for their continual support.
“If it weren’t for my promoters and my fans and the community at large this launch would have been an outright flop. There is another bun in the oven,keep checking this space,” he added.
His previous albums are Zororai murugare, Restoration and restitution, Tambirai mudhara auya, Rudo imbavha, Shumba dzora mombe and Mandivavarira.
