United Kingdom-based Zimbabwean paediatric specialist Dr Collen Nkomo, 40, was struck off the register for dodging child maintenance payments.
Nkomo who failed to pay more than £40,000 after splitting his £100,000 salary between 12 bank accounts, was struck off after the Medical Practitioners Tribunal in Manchester found that his misconduct was “fundamentally incompatible” with being a doctor.
He was ruled unfit to practise by the tribunal because of fraud and drink-driving convictions. Panel chairman Russell Butland said: “Dr Nkomo’s actions were dishonest, calculated and persistent.”
Dr Nkomo who qualified in 2002, had worked in the UK since 2013.
The tribunal said that Dr Nkomo’s “clear expressions of remorse and apology” were genuine. He is now repaying the arrears.
